Personal Reflection on Mini Lessons
I thought that this was a great activity because it allowed us to teach each other our different sections and this made it so we each knew our part really well. We started off with Molly talking about Privacy and security. She showed us a mini video calling tracking teresa. It was really interesting to see just how easy it was for the hacker to access all of her information and find out all of her personal items. Molly also talked about viruses and spam mail. The next girl was in charge of cheating. She asked us to locate a paper written on a certain book. It took us less than 30 seconds. It was amazing how easily accessable all of these papers were. She talked about identifying cheating and how to recognize it. As well as ways of combating it, and web pages that are designed to help teachers. We then learned about copyrights and their importance and significance. I was amazed at how easy it is to break these laws. She provided examples of how easily the internet is used to illegally share things like movies and music. This is very evident in our society. The other girl talked about fair use of intellectual property. This was interesting because I hadnt heard very much about it. She was mentioning how alot of teachers have a lot of misconceptions about what is allowed and what isnt. A lot of teachers do things illegally without even knowing it, this is pretty obvious in a lot of settings. I was last and I talked about flexible copyrights, that allow people to use and add onto anothers work with their permission and in certain situations. Its free and very helpful for both the artist and the user. I think that more and more people are taking advantage of this valuable resource.
